I don't know about you, but I'm having a hard time understanding
all these colors for Himalayans and Persians. A friend of mine says I'll catch on
someday, but it doesn't look like its going to be anytime soon. Sometimes it seems like
the more I read about genetics and colors, the more confused I get.
Since I'm already searching the web looking for all the information I can find
about the many colors of the Himalayan, I thought I'd make a page with links to
all the places I've found so far, so you can save some time by not having to
search too.
If you find more links, send them to me and I'll be happy to add them to this page.

A basic knowledge of genetics is of vital importance to judges and cat breeders.
Solid Colors and Dilutes
Modified from "Solid Colors and Dilutes", Cat Fancier's Newsletter in September 1994.
I like this page because it actually has a little chart with some of the different
colors on it. I was having a hard time with cream, mainly because I'd never
seen a cream anything cat.(The chart is at the bottom of the page).
Genetics for the Novice
by Carol Barbee; American Cat Fanciers Association
This was a bit too much about genetics for me, I'm just looking for explanations
on what color each color is, but I thought maybe some of you might be interested
in a bit more info on genetics in general.
The Himalayan Colors
by Kathy Durdick, Ristokat Himalayans & Persians; PandEcats.com - the online
magazine devoted to Persian and Exotic cats.
This page is pretty good. It has lots of pictures of the different colors, only
problem I have with it is it only shows head shots of the cats. But then again,
reading farther on down, it explains the colors. Very helpful.

CFA Breed/Color Designation Charts
The codes incorporated for the breed, color and sex of a cat registered by
CFA, and used in the prefix section of a cat's registration number. ---
The registration number prefixes listed are for males of that breed and
color. The value of 1 is added to this code to identify a female of the same
breed and color. For example: 3292 is a Tortie Point Perisan-Himalayan Male,
3293 is a Perisan-Himalayan Female.
